As a boy, some of my fondest memories are of gathering with friends around a crokinole board. Looking back, I realize that the game was much more than just a way to pass the time. Like most kids my age, we’d race our bikes or play hockey at the outdoor rink when the weather was good. But on rainy days or when winter kept us indoors, there was no question where you’d find us—huddled around a crokinole board, laughing and competing for hours.
As I grew older, life pulled my friends and me in different directions, and crokinole faded into the background. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I stumbled upon a video of the game on YouTube. That moment brought a flood of childhood memories rushing back—the camaraderie, the excitement, the simple joy of playing with friends.
Today, crokinole has made a strong return to my life. I now play regularly with my family and current friends, and every time we gather around the board, I’m reminded of those early days. Crokinole isn’t just a game for me; it’s a connection to my past, to friendships, and to the joy of shared experiences.
